Project Description
Topeka’s Municipal Airport & Airbase Hanger
Project Details
Project Overview
The Fuel Cell hangar located at Topeka’s Municipal Airport & Airbase is home to the Kansas Air National Guard. It houses a variety of military aircrafts from cargo transport planes to military bombers. With the heavy impact of aircrafts and machinery, the aviation hangar was in need of a flooring upgrade, and we were excited to create a custom floor that would keep operations up to speed.
Treadwell Solution
Treadwell installed a seamless epoxy floor to meet the stringent requirements of a military hangar. The coating not only holds up under the weight of a double engine airplane but also provides protection against the daily presence of aviation fuels and fire resistant fluids soaking into the concrete. We added texture to the epoxy to create an anti-slip floor that keeps employees safe from slipping promoting operational efficiency and safety.
Benefits
In addition to being visually appealing, light reflectivity is also an essential key to our epoxy floors. The reflected light allows for optimal visibility, which comes in handy, if you’re a mechanic working underneath aircrafts all day. It also allows small screws and tools dropped on the floor to be easily spotted. Epoxy is a versatile flooring solution being durable, chemical resistant and reflective.
