Project Description
Olathe School District
Project Details
Project Overview
The Olathe School District is constantly improving to give children the best learning environments while getting the most out of taxpayer dollars. The district was spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on maintenance of VCT floors in their aging facilities and looking for a way to modernize the school while decreasing cost over the life of floors. In bathrooms, they couldn’t keep the grout lines of the floor and wall tile in their bathrooms clean. They would start looking dark and harbor bacteria, cracking where walls met floors.
Treadwell Solution
Treadwell removed the old VCT and carpet and installed new decorative flake epoxy flooring in the schools in a variety of colors, patterns and even school graphics. In addition to the floors, Treadwell installed seamless epoxy on the walls of bathrooms in lieu of tile.
Benefits
We believe that learning should be fun, and part of what makes it enjoyable is a colorful, inspiring classroom. With that in mind, we handcrafted a floor with custom color flakes to create a one-of-a-kind look that shined. Today, tables and desks sit atop swirls of color that we hope will stimulate students’ imaginations for years to come. With unlimited color combinations, decorative macro flake coatings are a hardwearing and decorative choice for all educational levels.
At Olathe, teachers and custodians no longer need fear the red drinks that are ever present at school parties or the dreaded cold and flu season. Their floors are stain resistant and seamless. That means no yucky spots, no smelly carpet, and nowhere for bacteria to hide.
And with no annual waxing, these floors will save the district a substantial amount of maintenance cost over the next 20 years.
