Project Description
KU Clean Room
Project Details
Project Overview
The KU Physics & Astronomy Clean Room was designed as a place for working with highly-sensitive electronic components. The Clean Room Lab required an environment where tiny devices measured in micrometers to nanometers could be fabricated and tested without damage and sensitive equipment could perform without contamination from dust, lint, or human skin. Eliminating sources of electrostatic charge was essential to protect the delicate devices.
Treadwell Solution
Treadwell installed an Electrostatic Dissipative (ESD) epoxy flooring solution that provided a grounding point to discharge and dissipate static charges throughout the Clean Room Lab.
Benefits
The ESD feature of the floor dissipates the buildup of static electricity, preventing harm to the electronics in the lab. The epoxy flooring also provides the chemical resistance so crucial in the lab space. The smooth reflective surface of the epoxy floor makes for a clean, bright environment.
